USL Internship Program

Over the last eighteen years, United Soccer Leagues has provided opportunities for aspiring soccer players on the field. As the business of soccer in the United States and Canada continues to grow, it is imperative to us -- and to the sport -- that individuals passionate about our game have soccer business opportunities off the field. To that end, USL has initiated a comprehensive Internship Program.

USL Internships will fall into three terms that coincide with the college/university calendar:
Spring: January 15th through April 31st
Summer: June 1st through August 31st
Fall: September 1st through November 30th

Interested students will have internship opportunities within the following departments:

USL Communications
USL Communications interns will have the following job responsibilities: Assisting with the writing of all league publications including web site articles on uslsoccer.com, handling all fan mail correspondence, responding to media requests, assisting with statistical analysis and record keeping, research, management of league press clippings and assisting with the generation of creative ideas. The position requires strong written and verbal communication skills.

USL Marketing
USL Marketing interns will gain valuable hands-on promotional experience. Responsibilities for this position include the following: assisting in marketing research, regular communication with local and national organizations, responding to USL Fan Mail, and supporting national USL grassroots initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess a strong passion to work in the sport industry, tireless work ethic, and sound written and interpersonal skills.

USL Operations
USL Operations interns learn through hands-on experience with the following responsibilities: Managing game tape requests, reviewing game incidents on video, aiding preparation for major events (USL Championships, Olympic Development Program events), and assisting with referee services and all administrative aspects of player transactions and registration. USL Operations interns will work directly with USL's League Directors. The position requires strong computer and organizational skills.

USL Special Events & Promotions
USL Special Events & Promotions Interns have the unique opportunity to learn the organizational aspects of planning major events and promotions for the various USL leagues. The responsibilities of this position include, assisting with the development of event specific "playbooks," management and upkeep of Special Events material, including signage and banners, learning to write and receive Requests for Proposal (RFP's), assisting with various aspects of large-scale promotions, such as "fan balloting," assisting with the researching and ordering of promotional items, and responding to all web-site inquires and building a volunteer database.

The internships are based in Tampa, Florida. Internships may also become available at other times than those designated. Applications for internships are available online at www.uslsoccer.com. Completed applications and resumes should be submitted via e-mail to matt.weibe@uslsoccer.com.
