10 Champions Crowned

The 10 Super Y-League 2005 North American Champions for the U13-U17 Boys and Girls were crowned Tuesday in Tampa, Florida at the Ed Radic Sports Complex with teams from nine different clubs raising the cup after three were decided via penalty kicks and one in overtime. Match Fit Academy was the lone club with two teams capturing titles.

Championship Tuesday Set for 2005 SYL Finals
Semifinals completed after waiting out thunderstorms


On a stormy Monday in Tampa, Florida, the intensity at the 2005 Super Y-League North American Finals went up a notch as the field had been narrowed down from its initial 128 teams in 10 brackets to 40 semifinalists. Four finals were set from the early semifinals before a thunderstorm rolled through both the Ed Radice Sports Complex and University of South Florida facilities forcing postponements of the semifinals and consolation games, but the action would resume to complete the field for the 10 games on Championship Tuesday. Two championship matches feature showdowns between unbeaten teams from the season and SYL Finals play while two others feature rematches of games from group play this week.

USL Players' Village highlights 2005 SoccerFest
USL announces Fox Soccer Channel as presenting sponsor


Tampa, FL -- United Soccer Leagues is pleased to announce the addition of the USL Players’ Village to the 2005 USL SoccerFest.  The Players’ Village is presented by Fox Soccer Channel (FSC), the nation’s premier soccer channel.

The SoccerFest includes USL’s two largest annual events, the USL Annual General Meeting (AGM) October 28-31 and the Super Y-League North American Finals November 18-22.  One of the new events that will be going on in conjunction with the Super Y-League Finals is the Village which will be open on Friday, November 18 from 4-8pm, Saturday, November 19 from 8:30am-8:30pm and on Sunday, November 20 from 8:30am-1pm.

Fox Soccer Channel Match up: Vancouver Whitecaps vs. Chicago Magic
Saturday nights match to be aired on December 3rd at 8pm ET


On Saturday, November 19th at 6:30pm the Super Y-League will host a featured game at the Ed Radice Sports Complex that will be shown nation-wide on Fox Soccer Channel and Fox Sports World-Canada.  The match will feature the Vancouver Whitecaps FC U16 Boys against the Chicago Magic U16 Boys.

Teams now arriving into Tampa for North American Finals
128 teams compete for continents most prestigious championship


(Tampa, FL - November 16, 2005) The field of teams for the 2005 North American Finals is full, with 128 teams having earned a bid to the event, which will be held November 18-22 in Tampa, Florida. 
 
Teams have begun to arrive into Tampa to begin their quest for capturing the 2005 Super Y-League season title.  Tomorrow, many teams will be training at the Ed Radice Soccer Facility in preparation for their first match on Friday.

SYL Finals kick off this week
USMNT star Dempsey to appear at Players' Village



This Thursday 128 teams will start arriving in the Tampa Bay area for the 2005 Super Y-League North American Finals.  The event will also include an appearance by USMNT midfielder Clint Dempsey on Saturday from 1-3pm.

Regular Season Undefeated Teams See Challenge Ahead At North American Finals
Winning a championship unbeaten not a simple task


Last year, 19 teams entered the Super Y-League North American Finals in Orlando with an unbeaten record and only the U13 Vancouver Whitecaps Boys side made its way through unblemished for a championship. This year, 26 teams in nine of the 10 brackets are in the mix to achieve that feat, but it won’t be easy. Just ask the U19 MetroStars.
