Letters From Switzerland
Midfielder Aubrey Perry to attend upcoming U.S. U17 National Team Residency Camp
The USL Super Y-League 1991 Select Team arrived Wednesday, July 27 in Zurich, Switzerland in preparation for the International Swiss U16 Cup. The prestigious European tournament features the Super Y-League National Select Team, Manchester City, Borussia Dortmund, Liechtenstein National Team, FC St. Gallen, Chelsea, FC Basel, VFB Stuttgart, and FC Anderlicht. Jim Sidick, Team Manager, will be updating the USL staff daily on the teams training, matches, and events on the tour.

Day Three - Friday, July 28
For a change in scenery the Super Y-League Select 91’s traveled roughly 20 miles to the training grounds in Lichtenstein – a country of only 34,000.

Attempting to hammer out a starting eleven, coach Dick McCormick put the boys through a vigorous training session. McCormick stressed team defense throughout 4v4, 4v2, and 9v9 sessions. Team Manager Jim Sidick worked with the goalkeepers.

“Both Brett Finkelstein and Michael Darby are very technically sound keepers,” said Sidick. “They possess both the natural size and quick decision making ability needed in a goalkeeper of the next level.”
