U16 All-League Teams Announced
32 players earn top honors at the U16 boys and girls North American Finals
 Tuesday, December 4
TAMPA – United Soccer Leagues announced today the All-League teams for the U16 girls and boys who competed in the ninth annual Super Y-League North American Finals held last month. Selections were based off the nominations of opposing coaches made throughout tournament play. Selections per position were altered to include the players receiving the most nominations. All players selected to the list are automatically eligible to attend the Super Y-League ODP National Camps beginning Thursday, January 10 in Cocoa, Florida.

The Los Angeles Futbol Club took home the hardware by way of a 2-0 decision over Red Bull New York in the U16 boys final. Scoreless at the half, strikes by Bobby Reiss and Jonathan Gomez put LA on top for good. Los Angeles goalkeeper Eric Shannon and the LAFC defense then bunkered down for the victory.
“I felt our team did very well today,” said Super Y-League U16 boys MVP Carlos Alvarez. “We played excellent defense, attacked well-enough to win and did what our coached asked of us. It feels really good to be named MVP of the Super Y-League. I was never named the MVP of a club team before, high school maybe, but this is better. This is wonderful.”
This was the second consecutive season that LAFC fought their way to the top of the Super Y-League ’91 boys division. Last season they fell in the final, a 2-0 loss to the Chicago Magic.
