COCOA, FLORIDA – United Soccer Leagues Super Y-League ODP National Camps for their U15-U17 girls wrapped up today at the Cocoa Expo Center in Cocoa, Florida. The two final matches, a second ’91 SYL Select Team match and the lone ‘89/’90 match began at 10:30 AM. After all the SYL ODP matches were complete, the coaches met for one final time to produce the 2008 Super Y-League Select Team rosters for the ‘89/’90 and ’90 age divisions.

The first ’91 Select Team match, played Saturday evening, was one of the most exciting games of the weekend.

“The pace, and level of play in yesterday’s match was very good,” said Marcel Choquette of St. Michael’s College in Vermont. “All the players really jumped at the opportunity they had to stretch themselves and compete at a higher level. Some of the stronger players shown through and really did some special things on the ball.”

Following the match on Saturday night the coaches met to produce the final rosters for today’s matches.

“We dropped a few players who had trouble playing at that elite level and brought in some other girls we felt also deserved a look,” said Choquette. “This entire camp has been a tremendous opportunity for these girls to learn something about who they are as a player, how to compete as an elite-level team and just about the game in general.”

“The players here absolutely have the ability to compete at the collegiate level,” added Choquette. “There were a plethora of girls that will even excel on that level. This camp was a great tool for them to prepare for college and even the professional game.”
