Sunday, February 3

COCOA, FLORIDA – United Soccer Leagues Super Y-League ODP National Camps for their ’92 and ‘93/’94 girls began today. The third of four SYL ODP camps being held in eastern Florida’s Cocoa Expo Center, the U13-U15 camps officially kicked off with opening ceremonies at 7:00 PM. During opening ceremonies USL’s SYL ODP Director Sean Trask introduced the 330+ elite-level players to the SYL ODP coaching staff and detailed the schedule for the next three days of the camp.

The camp will officially conclude on Wednesday, February 6 with the naming of the ’92 and ‘93/’94 Super Y-League Select Teams. A representative of the U.S. Women’s National Team staff will be on hand throughout the camp to evaluate players from on a national team perspective.

“Obviously, you have done something special to get into these camps,” said SYL ODP Technical Director John Hannan, addressing the crowd of players during opening ceremonies. “You did not go through a lengthy tryout process and pay a lot of money to be here. You were selected based on the fact that you are great players.”

“Great players do not develop without being challenged,” added Hannan. “The level of players at this camp will challenge you and by that, you are already better players from having been here.”

About the ODP National Camps
Over the course of the 2007 season, the top players in the USL Super Y-League were selected by the ODP Scouting System to attend the ODP National Camps. During an intense four-day combine at the ODP National Camps, players will be evaluated by ODP Staff Coaches and U.S. Soccer National Coaching Staff for U.S. National Team Programs. During this time, players will learn the demands to compete at the highest levels of the game. In addition to the primary focus of identifying players to U.S. National Team Programs, many collegiate coaches will be scouting players for college soccer programs.
