Detailed schedule release for USL's West Ham Academy Tour

TAMPA – The 12 players selected from the Super Y-League ODP National Camps, held earlier this year, are scheduled to embark on their visit to the West Ham Youth Academy on Friday, March 28 from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. The ten field players and two goalkeepers will arrive in London at 7:30AM Greenwich Mean Time (GMT), Saturday, March 29 where they will attend the West Ham Academy’s 11AM Under-18 match with Reading.
The North Americans are scheduled to tour West Ham United’s Upton Park at 4:00PM Saturday before using the remainder of the day to familiarize themselves with their new accommodations and travel the city. On Sunday, the team is set to meet with West Ham United’s Academy Coaches Tony Carr and Paul Heffer prior to West Ham’s Academy match with Fulham. That evening the players will attend the English Premier League match between Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur.
The group’s official training within the academy begins on Monday, March 31 when former West Ham center back Paul Hilton conducts a training session with the group. Following a break for lunch, players will be introduced to ‘the West Ham Way’ in an hour long classroom session with Heffer. That evening the players will attend the West Ham Reserve Match fixture with Chelsea being held at Brentford FC.
Morning training continues on Tuesday, April 1 with Hilton. The afternoon session will focus on Sports Science. That seminar will be run by Eamon Swift. The boys will spend the evening examining London.
On Wednesday, April 2, West Ham’s Nick Haycock will conduct an Education and Welfare seminar. The classroom discussion will prelude an afternoon training session and evaluation run by West Ham First Team Head Coach and Northern Ireland Assistant Manager Glyn Snodin. Training will conclude with a dinner served at Upton Park.
One of the group’s most intense training days, Thursday, April 3 contains a morning and afternoon training session. The players will then break for several hours before a third, late training session with their Academy Groups begins at 7:00PM.
Morning training will give way to a formal evaluation period beginning at 1:00PM on Friday, April 4. That evening is also open for players to tour London. The following morning, Saturday, April 5, players will join the West Ham Academy as they travel to Leicester, England to face Leicester City. On Sunday, the American’s final full day in the United Kingdom, the West Ham Academy will face the Under-14 and Under-15 from Ipswich Town.
