Mizell to U.S. U18 National Team Camp West Ham Academy Invitee continues to impress upon return
Tuesday, April 22
TAMPA, FL – Cody Mizell, one of the top rated players in United Soccer Leagues Super Y-League who attended the league’s West Ham Academy tour earlier this year, was recently called into Head Coach Bob Jenkins U.S. U18 Men’s National Team training camp that kicked off in Somerset, New Jersey on Saturday, April 19.
The camp, which wraps up on Saturday, April 26, includes three scrimmages against St. John’s University and USL Super Y-League club, Player Development Academy, which is based in nearby Zarephath, New Jersey.
A member of PDA’s U16 boys’ team that went 1-2-0 in the 2007 Super Y-League North American Finals, Hunter Gorskie is also attending the camp.
Mizell, a goalkeeper who plays in the Super Y-League with the Atlanta Silverbacks, earned one of the best evaluations from the West Ham Academy coaches during his 10-day session with the historic club.
In 10 out of 14 assessed categories, Mizell scored a three, which is the highest rating given to any player in West Ham’s Youth Academy. Mizell was also the only player to have earned a well-deserved rating of two in any category, as one’s and two’s are traditionally reserved for the professional players.
