PEMBROKE PINES, FL – West Pines United FC is pleased to announce their acceptance into United Soccer Leagues Super Y-League for the upcoming 2008 season. The club, located between Miami and Fort Lauderdale, Florida will compete in the Southeast Division of the Super Y-League.

“Acceptance into the Super Y-League is a great opportunity for our club and for the development of our players,” said West Pines United Director of Coaching Phil Zayas. “We are very excited to participate in the Super Y-League. We hope this can be a stepping stone for future endeavors with USL."

West Pines FC will field teams in the U13, U15 and U17 girls division and the U17 boys division during their first season. While the competitive balance of the U13 girls division remains unknown, West Pines will be looking to knockoff the returning Southeast Division Champions in the U15 and U17 divisions.

Last season’s Southeast U16 boys division, which consists of players now at the U17 level, was won by Kendall SC, who finished the season 11-1-2. Perennial Southeast power Schulz Academy finished second in the division with a record of 9-1-4. West Pines opens their U17 season against Kendall on Saturday, June 7. They will face Schulz Academy for the first time on Wednesday, August 20.

“We look forward to competing in such a prestigious league,” said West Pines United President Todd Goodman. “This venture offers our players yet another avenue to showcase their abundance of talent.”

The club’s U15 and U17 girls open the season on Sunday, June 8 against Sunrise SC. Sunrise’s U14 girls finished the 2007 regular season in third place with a record of 4-2-4. They did not field a team at the U16 girls’ level in 2007.
