TAMPA – The Southeast division of the Super Y-League gets into full swing this week with many teams in action from all age groups. Florida Soccer Alliance alone has eight matches this week, while Orlando FC and FC Sarasota each have five games to be played respectively. If last season was any indication of the quality of play in this region, soccer fans will be in for another treat as season ten of the Super Y-League is well underway.

U17
Last season the Southeast was perhaps the toughest division in the Super Y-League with four legitimate title contenders. After the dust was settled it was RSL Florida who won the title after compiling a 14-1-1 record and put in an amazing 55 goals on the season. However, scoring was something that this division exemplified throughout the year. In total four teams from the Southeast division found the back of the net over 50 times. Coaches Luis Calix and Victor Pastora helped lead Kendall SC to a runner-up finish in the Southeast division. While Schulz Academy finished in third place even though the team dealt with a number of injuries throughout the season. Rounding out the top four was Orlando FC who put together an impressive 12-3-1 record.

U16
Last season Kendall SC championed the Southeast. They were led by goalkeeper David Sarabia, defender Andrew Quintana and midfielder Cristian Ramos. Schulz Academy also had a strong 2007 season and finished runner-up to Kendall SC. Weston FC challenged to the two league leaders all season long as well.

U15
In another hugely contested division, Sunrise SC rose above the rest to become champions of the Southeast. Coached by “Pitu” Alvarez, Sunrise SC allowed a league low six goals all season while scoring 51. Runner-up to Sunrise SC was Florida SA whose core team has been together since the U10 level. Captains Shawn Maleknia and Justin Green led the Florida SA squad to their impressive second place showing.

U14
Schulz Academy showed again why they are one of the premier youth clubs in North America by capturing the Group B Championship. Different players stepped up to provide a lift all through the season and the different formations used by coach Josef Schulz allowed the players to try different options as they further their career in soccer. Winning the Group A Championship was RSL Florida who compiled a record of 7-4-2. Much like Schulz Academy, RSL Florida Manager Robin Wiltshire utilized a number of different formations based on the competition.

U13
FC Sarasota captured their only Southeast division title in the U13 age group and laid the groundwork for many successful seasons to come with this current squad. FC Sarasota finished the season with an 8-4-1 record and won the tiebreaker over RSL Florida to capture the championship. Winning the group B Championship in the Southeast was Weston SC. Weston SC was coached by Alvin James and the team continued to improve and win as the season went on.
