Monday, June 30, 2008
It has been an exciting season of action so far in the Mid Atlantic Division with many teams still vying for the top spot in their respective age groups.
Girls U17 Division The New York Magic is off to an impressive start to their season and has taken the lead in their division. They currently sit on top of the table with 16 points and a record of 5-0-1. The Magic are coming off of a dominant performance where they defeated Princeton Soccer 6-0. Hot on the Magic’s heels are the South Jersey Barons and Rage SC. The Barons are the only team on this season to take any points from the Magic and are sure to prove to be a hurdle until the end of the season.
Girls U16 Division It seems to be a one team race in the U16 Division with Parsippany SC leading the charge. They boast a stellar 7-0 record and have outscored their opponents on the season by a 27-2 margin. If any team has a chance at running Parsippany SC down it is the Washington Freedom who also display an undefeated record, although they have only played 2 games on the season. Parsippany SC will get to see how serious a threat the Freedom are when they travel to Washington on July 13 for this potential heavyweight matchup.
Girls U15 Division There is a three team race for supremacy in this age group that could go down to the last day of the regular season. Quickstrike FC is off to the early lead with a record of 4-1 and has outscored its opponents by 14 goals. Looking to run them down are two teams that are undefeated through three games. Both the Long Island Rough Riders and Washington Freedom are perfect and will look to take over the top spot as the season continues this week.
Girls U14 Division The Long Island Rough Riders and Quickstrike FC are off to quick starts in Group A play as both are undefeated on the season. The Rough Riders sport a record of 4-0-2 while Quickstrike FC is 3-0-2. Group B is completely up grabs as four different teams have a legitimate chance of winning the division. The City Islanders Academy seem to be the class of Group C with a strong 8-1 record. The Islanders have outscored their opponents by 17 goals on the season. Trying to run them down will be Southern Maryland FC who at 6-1-1 is five points back with one game in hand and Southern Maryland FC hosts the Islanders on July 19.
Girls U13 Division The Long Island Rough Riders and Match Fit Academy are both off to successful starts they hope will translate into a division championship. The Rough Riders are 5-0-1 on the season and have an extended break until they get back onto the field July 17 when they host TSF Academy. Match Fit Academy is perfect on the season at 3-0 and has outscored their opponents 12-3. They begin a two game road trip this week with games at Quickstrike FC Wednesday and travel to South Jersey to take on the Barons on Sunday.
