PEMBROKE PINES, FL – West Pines United U13 Girls continued their winning streak this past weekend with their win against Kendall Coalition (3-0) and the Weston Fury (3-0). The team now leads the Southeast Division with almost a perfect record of 6-1-0. In seven matches the team has compiled 21 goals while allowing only five.

Pines came out strong in their season opener outscoring a very talented Schulz Academy 3-1. They found themselves down a goal when Schulz scored in the first 10 minutes of the game, but a very determined Pines squad pulled together and overcame the deficit. A goal from Kristina Robles (‘95) tied the game and before the first half ended she scored a second goal off a free kick.

Pines dominated the second half with solid performances from center midfielder Nicole Harris (‘95) and defenders Kiana Clarke (‘95) and Jasmine Watson (‘94). Yazmina Peart scored the final goal on a break-away. Usually a forward, Megan Menocal (’94) stepped up to the role of goal keeper and limited Schulz Academy to one tally.

Despite falling 2-0 to Miami Strike Force in their second season game, West Pines has put that result behind them and have stayed focus. Yazmina Peart (’95) and Kristina Robles (’95) lead the team in goals scored. They both have found the back of the net five times. Nicole Harris (’95) and Sharon Tejeda (’94) lead the squad in assists, while Camila Ardila (’94) and Nicole Harris (’95) continue to dominate the middle. Ardila has netted three goals in her six matches.
