ATLANTA, GA – The Northern Virginia Royals Super Y-League teams, which include U13 through U17 boys age groups, provided an impressive performance in their three-day road trip in central Georgia over the weekend. The Royals teams earned a cumulative 8-2-2 record against Alpharetta United, Atlanta Fire United, and the Atlanta Silverbacks boys Super Y-league squads.

The U17 Royals narrowly got past Alpharetta United 2-1 and then managed their second win, edging the U17 Silverbacks 3-2. The weekend’s results bring the U17 Royals record to 6-0-2 and a sizable lead in the South Atlantic Division. One more win in their final two games guarantees a berth in the Super Y-League North American Finals held this November in Tampa, Florida.

Although idle this past weekend, the U17 Majestics girls team finds themselves in a similar situation. With an unblemished 5-0-0, the U17 Majestics need a single win in their final three games to earn a spot in the continental championship tournament.

The Northern Virginia Royals U16 squad battled to a draw against a winless Alpharetta United on Friday, but roared back to claim two victories over the following two days. The U16 Royals nabbed a 3-1 win over the Atlanta Fire United and continued on the following day, shutting out the Silverbacks 2-0. The U16 Royals are currently 8-0-1 and remain in control of their own North American Finals future.

The U15 Royals rebounded from a recent Fredericksburg loss, topping Alpharetta United 2-0 before pummeling the Silverbacks 5-1 on Sunday. The U15 Royals still cling to the first place slot above the Gunners, but the Fredericksburg club has more games left to play to decide the bracket.

The U13 and U14 Royals both finished the weekend even, earning 1-1-0 and 1-1-1 records respectively. The U14 Royals remain in a comfortable lead in their division with two games left to play. Two victories coupled with an additional loss or tie from the Richmond Kickers would see the upstart U14 Royals packing their bags for Tampa.

The younger Northern Virginia Majestics Super Y-League teams posted mixed results in Atlanta over the weekend.
