NEW ROCHELLE, NY – The 2008 U14 Westchester Flames fell one spot short of making it to Tampa and competing at Nationals. The Flames finished in second place in Group A of the Mid Atlantic Division, six points behind front-running FC Westchester with a record of 9-4.

The Flames fared much better on the road this year as six of their nine wins came away from home. That tough mentally was due in large part to leading goal scorers Luis Ayala and Steven Carvajal who each scored five goals on the season.

Also contributing heavily to the offense was Daniel Bedoya and Raphael De Souza who both had seasons that took them into double digit point totals. Defensively the Flames were anchored by goalkeeper Ian Huntoon who appeared in all 13 games for Westchester.

The Flames started the 2008 season by winning their first two games. They did so in impressive fashion by outscoring their opponents 9-2. Westchester then hit a tough part in their schedule that created too big of a hole to dig out of. It was not for lack of effort though as Westchester was playing their best soccer at the end of the season and was victorious in their last five games.

On the year Westchester doubled up their opponents by a margin of 36 to 18 and was a tough out for everyone in the Mid Atlantic Division. FC Westchester was the last team standing in Group A and with an 11-2 record will be representing the group at Nationals in Tampa.
