ABBOTSFORD, BC - The Super Y-League season wrapped up for the Mariners on Sunday at Bateman Park closing out the regular season for eight Abbotsford teams that compete in the Pacific Northwest Division of the Super Y-League. However, for three of those teams, the fun is just getting started, as the U14, U15, and U16 Boys have all qualified for the North American Championships in Tampa, Florida to be held Friday, November 21 to Tuesday, November 25.

U16 Boys
The Abbotsford Mariners finished second in this tough age group that saw only two teams finish above the .500 mark. The Mariners finished the season with a record of 6-2-2 and split their two games with division champions, Mountain WFC. Abbotsford made it to Tampa on the strength of their defense. This stingy squad limited the powerful offenses in this division to only 12 goals in ten games.

U15 Boys
The Mariners, much like their U16 club, finished the season with a record of 6-2-2 to finish in second place and claim a spot at the North American Championships. While the U16 team relied on their defense, the U15 club rode the wave of their offense to reach Tampa. Abbotsford averaged more than three goals a game and outscored their opponents by a margin of 31-11.

U14 Boys
Mountain WFC and the Abbotsford Mariners both cruised to the top of the tables in the 2008 season and both will be representing the Pacific Northwest in the North American Championships in November. The Mariners finished their campaign with a dominating 13-2-1 record and battled it out with Mountain WFC for the top spot the entire season. Abbotsford’s defense consistently rose to the occasion this season and allowed less than a goal per game.
