SUNRISE, FL – Sunrise SC U15 girls are one of the earliest teams in the Southeast Division to qualify for United Soccer Leagues Super Y-League North American Finals. Sunrise SC has now sent four teams into the North American Finals in only their second year of participating in the league.

This will make the third year out of four that Coach Gustavo Camacho has guided his team into the league finals.
“Summer time in Florida is very hard to keep everyone together,” says Camacho. “To date, we still have not had everyone at one game to play together. We must give credit to the great talent and depth that this team has.”

Sunrise SC went undefeated this summer, with their toughest battles coming from Kendall.

“Kendall is an excellent team and they are our biggest rivals in South Florida, but we put together too much offensive power to go along with a strong defense,” said Camacho. “Also this team never quits and has the desire to be the best.”

Being the best was the only option in the six-team, winner take all division as Sunrise will be the only team advancing to the finals in Tampa to represent the Sunshine State. Last season the tables were turned, and Kendall SC advanced to the league finals after finishing the Southeast U14 girls regular season with a record of 7-0-2. Kendall then had great success at the finals, going 2-1-0 through group play before falling to the eventual champion, New Jersey Junior Stallions, 4-0 in the semifinals.

Sunrise will look to duplicate that successful run after drawing Kendall twice during the regular season, 1-1. Those draws were the only blemishes on the resume of Sunrise SC, who advanced to the postseason tournament thanks to Real Salt Lake Florida, who drew Kendall SC 0-0 in the last match of the season. The results of the RSL/Kendall match, played on Sunday, August 10 in Kendall Soccer Park limited the defending division champions to 24 points while Sunrise, who downed RSL 3-1 in their final match of the season, advanced with 26 points.
