TAMPA – United Soccer Leagues announced today the U17 Boys and Girls All-Tournament Teams following the 10th Annual North American Finals, held November 21 through November 25 in Tampa, Florida. Selections were based off the nominations of opposing coaches made throughout tournament play.

The top player, who received votes from each of the five opposing coaches she faced, was eventual tournament MVP Devon Peta of the 2008 U17 Girls Super Y-League Champion, MPS Cape Cod Lady Crusaders. Peta averaged two goals per game at the North American Finals. She is joined on the All-Tournament Team by two teammates: goalkeeper Casey Edward, who was nominated by Ottawa Fury Head Coach Jimmy Zito for her performance in the championship match, and midfielder Monique Lamotte, who earned votes from each of the five opposing coaches she faced save the tournament final.

The Fury, who battled the Lady Crusaders to a 2-1 finish in the tournament final, also had three players voted onto the All-Tournament Team – defender Lia Blake, midfielder Riley Filion and forward Josee Descoeurs.

The U17 Boys All-Tournament Team is highlighted by tournament MVP Daniel Friga of 2008 Super Y-League Champion TSF Academy. TSF won a 1-0 decision over Parsippany SC in the final. Friga’s running-mate in the midfield, Joshua Delva earned the most votes of any player in the tournament, finishing with four.

Parsippany SC, who allowed just three goals in five North American Finals matches, had goalkeeper Jesse Wright, defender Javier Martinez and forward Marc Godelman named to the All-Tournament Team. Godelman’s two-assist performance in the semifinals forwarded the New Jersey-based club to the tournament final. One of Godelman’s two assists was to Martinez, who combined with his goalkeeper, Wright, to record three consecutive shutouts in the group play stage of the tournament.
