SUEZ, EGYPT – Four different US players scored in a FIFA U20 World Cup match for the first time as the US U20 Men’s National Team earned three key points in its second game of the 2009 U20 World Cup with a 4-1 victory against Cameroon.

The three-goal win propelled the US into second place in Group C on goal difference heading in to the final group match against Korea Republic on Friday, October 2, at 6:45PM local time (12:45 PM ET) live on ESPN2 and Galavision. A win or draw against Korea ensures the team advancement to the Round of 16.

On Tuesday against Cameroon, US U20 Head Coach Thomas Rongen made two changes to his starting lineup in midfield, where he inserted former USL Super-20/Super Y-League standouts Bryan Arguez and Dilly Duka to play alongside Jared Jeffrey. The change paid dividends as each of the debutantes scored a goal and registered an assist.

Arguez’s tally came on a Tony Taylor assist in first-half stoppage time, and in the opening moments of the second half Duka, who has played in the Super Y-League with Parsippany SC and in the Super-20 League with Red Bull New York, assisted on Taylor’s eventual game-winner. Duka’s goal came in the 67th minute. He was assisted by Arguez, who spent the entirety of his USL youth career with Kendall SC. Second-half substitute Brian Ownby scored the fourth goal in second-half stoppage time.

“If you win 4-1 you're clearly happy, but I am [happier] about the fact our team responded well to a disappointing opening game against Germany,” said Rongen, who now has a 7-4-1 record in U20 World Cup matches.

“It showed some great character and resilience to manage this game. It was a huge game for us. We felt we needed three points to get ourselves back in the race for the group. We did that. I am very proud of the way the team handled the loss against Germany and focused our energy on Cameroon. We made a few changes that helped us and that was a result that we desperately needed."
