STROUDSBURG, PA – As prestigious as West point is you think having one player get accepted to the Academy in a lifetime is something special, but to have two members of your organization be accepted is something really special.
In 2008 AC Perugia’s Chris Knittle was accepted to West Point and played for the Division I Army soccer team as a 6' 3" 200 pound freshman. With a little help from that frame, Knittle was able to make an impact. Now 2009, Perugia’s Chelsea Sapirman has committed to West Point to play for the Academy’s Women's Soccer team in fall of 2010.
Sapirman played for the AC Perugia Grifos U17 girls USL Super Y-League team this past summer as a goalkeeper. The team went 3-6-3, scoring 19 goals and allowing 24 in a very-competitive Mid Atlantic Division.
Sapirman first met with West Point Head Coach, Stefanie Golan and Assistant Coach, Fred Thompson after Army recently traveled to nearby Lehigh University. This followed a weekend visit to the school, along with three other 2010 recruits.
Chelsea plans on attending West Point in the fall and studying Civil Engineering as well as being part of a Soccer team that made the NCAA Division I tournament in 2008 after winning the Patriot League Championship.
