Final SYL First 11 for 2009 unveiled Royals/Majestics maintain top spot in final club rankings

TAMPA, FL -- United Soccer Leagues announced today the final Super Y-League First and Second-11 Club rankings for the 2009 season, recognizing the league’s top clubs on a competitive and administrative basis. The top overall club in the SYL this season was the Northern Virginia Majestics/Royals, who scored an 84.80 to edge out the second-best club in the league, MPS Bulldogs/Renegades.
Northern Virginia bolstered their finish with the U13 Girls Championship at the recently concluded Super Y-League North American Finals , where they had eight teams overall competing – five boys and three girls teams. They stayed ahead of the MPS Bulldogs/Renegades who saw the U14 Boys reach the championship game.

Coastal WFC, Seacoast United and Quickstrike FC were big movers up the Overall list. Coastal jumped from seventh to third with a sweep of the U16 Boys and Girls North American Championships to their credit as well as a U13 Girls semifinal appearance. Seacoast United, up to 10 from 12, captured the U14 Girls title and reached the U17 Girls semifinals. Quickstrike FC, who was outside the top 22 initially, won the U15 Girls bracket and were finalists in the U16 Girls championship to finish 15th.
The top teams remained the same in the individual Boys and Girls tables with Mountain WFC and Washington Freedom remaining atop both, respectively, from the preliminary tables announced at the conclusion of the regular season.
In the Boys table, however, Alpharetta United moved from fifth to second after reaching both the U16 and U17 Boys championship games. Schulz Academy jumped from 13 to 8 on the strength of U14 and U17 Boys championships and an appearance in the U15 Boys semifinals. Ironbound SC moved from 20 to 17 by reaching the U13 Boys final and West Pines came from outside the top 22 to rank 18 by winning the U13 Boys championship.
In the Girls table, the big mover was Quickstrike FC, who with the previously mentioned performances, jumped from 16 to 11. Alpharetta United, with a U16 Girls semifinal appearance, joined the top 22 in the final spot.
