U14 Girls All-Tournament Team

TAMPA, FLORIDA – United Soccer Leagues released today the U14 Girls All-Tournament Team Selections following the North American Finals, held November 20-24 at Ed Radice Sports Complex in northwest Tampa, Florida. The U14 Girls Championship was captured by Seacoast United, who downed the Washington Freedom, 2-1 in the final.

Seacoast United had three players named to the All-Tournament Team: defender Abby Smith, midfielder Carly Gould and forward Rachel Hill. Smith and Gould made large contributions to a defensive system which allowed just two goals in five games. Offensively, Hill scored three goals and assisted on three more. The team finished the North American Finals with a goal differential of plus-16.

The Washington Freedom ended their season with a record of 13-3-0 including their 4-1-0 record at the North American Finals. The team did not allow a goal in group play, outscoring the Chicago Magic, 1-0 on opening day. They followed with another shutout win, 2-0 over the MPS Renegades before beating the West Coast Capitals by the same score, 2-0 a day later.

Defensively, Evelyn Robinson earned the most votes from opposing coaches while Marlo Sweatman led the Freedom offensively. Sweatman played her best in a 4-1 victory over Parsippany SC in the semifinals. She netted two goals in that match.

Jen Andresen scored two goals and an assist in four matches for Parsippany SC, who ended their season with a 10-4-1 record. Andresen assisted on Kayla Birth’s goal in the semifinal loss to the Freedom.

The second semifinalist, the Kalamazoo Kingdom had defender Samantha Gonzalez and midfielder Shelby Adams named to the All-Tournament Team.

Five players were tied for the most votes received during the North American Finals with three each. Those players included: Sweatman from the Freedom, Andresen from Parsippany, Gonzalez from Kalamazoo, Olivia Kappeli from Coastal WFC, Georgia Grzybowski of the West Coast Capitals and Meghan Cox from the Northern Virginia Majestics.
