U14 Boys All-Tournament Team

TAMPA, FLORIDA – United Soccer Leagues announced today the U14 Boys All-Tournament Team following the Super Y-League North American Finals held November 20-24 in Tampa, Florida. The U14 Boys Championship was won by Schulz Academy, 4-0 over the MPS Bulldogs. Scouted by opposing coaches during the tournament, 23 players earned a position on the All-Tournament Team.

Midfielder Nicholas Midttun caught the eye of Schulz’s opponent in both the semifinal (Ottawa Fury) and the final (MPS) to land a spot on the All-Tournament Team. His teammate, Michael Henderson earned a championship nod and three goals in those matches. The third player named to the All-Tournament Team from Schulz Academy was defender Greg Joseph. Defensively, Schulz allowed just two goals at the North American Finals, including shutout wins in both the semifinal and final.

MPS Bulldogs allowed just one goal against through group play, dispatching Quickstrike SC, 3-1 on the opening day of the tournament. The Bulldogs followed with three consecutive shutout wins over Long Island (3-0), Thompson – Okanagan (1-0) and Alliance (1-0) in the semifinal. The Bulldogs top performers at the North American Finals were midfielder Henry McCabe and goalkeeper David Hepp.

Alliance Academy completed a 5-2-0 regular season to qualify for the North American Finals. They opened the tournament with a 2-0 win over the Northern Virginia Royals before taking a 3-1 decision away from TSF Academy on the second day of group play. Alliance qualified for the knockout phase of the competition with a 2-0 win over West Pines United. Alliance had defender Christopher Rassel and midfielder Matheau Rogers named to the All-Tournament Team following their semifinal appearance. Both players stood out to MPS Head Coach Andrew Moir during their semifinal encounter.

In the second semifinal, Ottawa surrendered one goal in each half to the potent offense of Schulz Academy. Besides the semifinal loss, Ottawa gave up only one goal in their previous three games. For his efforts on defense Jordan Rollocks was named to the All-Tournament Team. Ottawa was led offensively by Brandon Guilmette, who tallied three of the team’s five goals at the North American Finals.
