Shaylana Isakson, along with Alana Hazell, Amanda Krehel and Clare Murphy received the most ODP nominations from Thompson-Okanagan’s U15 team during the 2009 Super Y-League regular season. Coached by Robert Jones, the team’s best game was a 1-1 draw with North American Finals qualifier, Mountain WFC. During the holidays, Isakson remains very active hiking in her favorite “all brown fleece sweat/track suit.”

USLsoccer.com: What are you doing to stay match-ready during the holidays to be successful at the upcoming SYL ODP Camps in March 2010?
 
Shaylana Isakson: To stay match ready I am training with the university soccer coach on Wednesdays and playing in a premier women’s soccer league on Sundays. I will be having indoor practices with another team beginning in January. I either go hiking with my dogs or running/biking at home during my off days.

USLsoccer.com: What is the best Christmas/Hanukkah present you have ever received?

Shaylana Isakson: Although there were many good gifts over the years, I really liked my digital camera I got three years ago.

USLsoccer.com: What is the worst Christmas/Hanukkah present you have ever received?

Shaylana Isakson: Well, you know how grandmas can be... a few years ago she bought me an all brown fleece sweat/track suit. It looked like I was about to trek out into the woods to go hunting.
 
USLsoccer.com: What professional player would make for the most entertaining mall Santa Claus?

Shaylana Isakson: Lionel Messi.

USLsoccer.com: What is one thing on your Christmas list you know you are not getting?

Shaylana Isakson: A new phone.

USLsoccer.com: What is your favorite family Christmas tradition, why?

Shaylana Isakson: My favorite Christmas tradition is to sit all together to watch the classic VHS show The Year Without A Santa Claus. I also like helping my mom out in the kitchen with the Christmas baking.

USLsoccer.com: What is your favorite Christmas cartoon/movie and why?

Shaylana Isakson: My favorite Christmas movie is The Polar Express because it was one of my favorite storybooks growing up as a kid.

USLsoccer.com: If you could build a soccer team, who is on your Christmas wish list, why?

Shaylana Isakson: My Christmas “wish list” soccer team would have to include all my Super Y-League girls, because we had some great times as a team and played very well together!

USLsoccer.com: Other than USA/England which World Cup match would you like to see?

Shaylana Isakson: I would really like to see Italy and England play live, because I think it would be exciting soccer to watch.

USLsoccer.com: Who deserves a lump of coal for Christmas and why?

Shaylana Isakson: Tiger Woods? He let a lot of people down.
