Northern Virginia Goes UMBRO
Majestics, Royals, Super Y-League and Super-20 League sides change outfitter

WOODBRIDGE, VA – The Northern Virginia Royals and Northern Virginia Majestics proudly announced a deal that names UMBRO as a primary sponsor of the Washington D.C. metro area soccer club. In a continuing effort to reaffirm the Northern Virginia Football Club’s (NVFC) commitment to the United Soccer Leagues (USL) and its partners, the Royals and Majestics launched the uniform, equipment, and branding partnership with UMBRO to run through 2012.

UMBRO becomes the official uniform and equipment supplier for all NVFC teams and programs including the Premier Development League, W-League, and 24 Super Y-League and Super-20 League teams as well as future considerations. In addition, the agreement includes official uniform status of the youth club affiliate Northern Virginia Soccer Club (NVSC) and its large membership in academy, travel, and recreational programs.

NVFC and NVSC previously teamed with USL official sponsor Sprinturf in 2008 to construct the first of several turf fields at the Hellwig Park Soccer Complex in Manassas, Virginia.

UMBRO is a well established soccer related brand with international recognition. Based in the United Kingdom, where the UMBRO business was founded in 1924, the Group designs, sources and markets football related products which are sold in over 90 countries. UMBRO’s product range comprises apparel, footwear and equipment.

UMBRO has been associated with soccer since the 1930’s and its relationship with leading national teams and professional clubs now encompass exclusive endorsements and distribution rights for playing kit, apparel and equipment. UMBRO currently supplies playing and training kit to the England National Team as well as leading professional clubs worldwide, including West Ham United (England), FC Santos (Brazil), Changchun Yatai (China), CSKA Moscow (Russia), Everton (England), Glasgow Rangers (Scotland), Gamba Osaka (Japan) and Bestiktas (Turkey). The UMBRO brand is also endorsed by high profile individual players including the England Captain John Terry, Michael Owen, Luis Garcia, Tim Cahill, Deco and Alan Shearer.

The NVFC deal includes such other club and in-stadium marketing components as balls, billboards, and signage. The new uniforms will have their first airing in Northern Virginia on May 10th in the Royals PDL home opener against the Cary Clarets (NC).
