The Poway Vaqueros opened their second campaign in the USL Super-20 League with five consecutive wins before suffering their first defeat this past Monday, June 29 at the hands of Chivas USA, 3-1.

After inking a development deal with Chelsea Football Club of the English Premier League in the offseason, the newly named Match Fit Chelsea Academy of New Jersey has compiled a USL Super Y-League record of 18-12-3 to this point in the 2009 season.

“We as a club realize it is still early in the league, but there is a general feeling that we have set the tone for the remainder of the season,” said West Pines United President Todd Goodman. “We relish the opportunity of placing our teams in the Super Y-League North American Finals.”

"It has always been my dream to play professional soccer,” said Gonzales. “I will try my best to accomplish that, but I go to school too just in case that does not happen for me. I will play anywhere, any place that thinks I am good enough. To get a chance to stay in Tampa with the Rowdies would be a real accomplishment for me. I hope I get that opportunity."

United Soccer Leagues announced today the qualification format for the 11th Annual Super Y-League North American Finals. Representing one-third of USL’s SoccerFest along with the USL AGM and Five-A-Side Frenzy, the North American Finals will be held from Thursday, November 19 through Tuesday, November 24 in Tampa, Florida, the home of USL’s front office.

"The level of competition coming out of our Mid Atlantic region early this season has been impressive,” said USL’s Director of Super-20 and Super Y-League Operations, Erin McGauley. "I look forward to seeing the North American Finals play out in the most-competitive region of the Super-20 League the past two seasons."
